Step out with Ramblers

Ramblers Scotland will be encouraging people to get outdoors and enjoy a short walk as part of the Ramblers Get Walking Week from May 4 to May 11 - aiming to get 100,000 people to their feet.

Ramblers Scotland knows that getting more people out walking will lead to healthier and happier lifestyles, so this May they’re making it easier than ever to take those first steps.

With it being the Year of Natural Scotland, there is no better time to get outdoors and get active in beautiful surroundings – from walking in the countryside to exploring green spaces in towns and cities.

During Get Walking Week a number of Ramblers Scotland groups will be leading free short walks of five miles or less led by experienced walk leaders, and they’re also encouraging people to step out with family or friends for a short walk by following their easy, 12-step walking plan.

Walking has endless benefits, especially brisk walking: it’s good for your health; it lifts your mood; it is a fun, social activity that almost anyone can do without any specialist gear or equipment; and you can start slowly and build up gradually.
