The “Here for You Partnership” has announced that the 2013 Gift Tree Project will be launched in Fraserburgh at the start of November.
Many local families need a little extra support at Christmas and this unique partnership of agencies, who work closely with families, was formed to bring some festive cheer to those who find themselves in need during the Christmas period.
The Here for You Partnership will see social work, health visitors, Fraserburgh Development Trust, Community Planning Partners, Aberdeenshire Council employees and others working together with local schools, businesses and community groups to organise this toy appeal.
The partnership will also be working closely with local churches to support those in need of food parcels.
Gift Trees, with tags, will appear during November at key locations across Fraserburgh, including: the Environmental Health Department, Tesco, Asda, Maitland’s, Boots, Moments Bridal, Little Shoe Boutique, NHS Grampian Health Point, Fraserburgh Leisure Centre and various Banks. If anyone else would like to host a tree the partnership would be delighted to hear from you.
Angie Christie, Social Regeneration Officer for the Here for You Partnership, said: “This project in previous years has seen an overwhelming generosity from our community and I am hopeful that this year be no different.
“Members of the public are being asked to select a tag from one of our trees then buy just one extra gift, while doing their Christmas shopping, and donate that gift: toy; book; game; toiletries or local business gift cards for vulnerable children.
“This appeal certainly brings a heart-warming ‘togetherness’ into our community and it is wonderful to be involved with all the partners who work so hard to support this great cause.”
