A 12-year-old Fraserburgh Academy pupil has won a competition to design the new Broch Drama Group’s logo to be used on their merchandise.

Leah Herbert won the competition for her lighthouse inspired logo ahead of runners-up from Lochpots School, South Park School, St. Andrews School and other Fraserburgh Academy students.

Leah said: “I had my jumper off and I seen my school logo and I seen the lighthouse and I got inspired by that.”

The young student then added opera masks and a purple ribbon to give her logo a drama feel.

Stephen Ralph, Drama teacher at the Academy and a member of Broch Drama Group, said: “What stood out was the lighthouse.

“It made us think of Fraserburgh.”

Leah was presented with vouchers and will be given a framed copy of her final logo.

Although Leah has not yet had the chance auditioned for any of the Broch Drama Group’s productions the talented 12-year-old will be the only junior school student to appear in this year’s school musical.

There is a chance that the S1 student might even be the first junior school student to appear in the Academy’s musical production in over a decade.

The Broch Drama Group will now hold an online vote to see what the Fraserburgh public want them to put on for their first musical production.

The public will be asked to pick between Annie, Oliver and Calamity Jane, the voting starts on their Facebook page on March 17 with the winner announced on March 31.
