Last week learners at the Broch Community Centre were challenged to try something new.
As a part of Adults Learners Week, the Community Learning and development team organised three workshops with Omar Afif Watt, a Moroccan musician now happily settled in the North East.
Omar led learners and community members of all ages and abilities in fun sessions of drumming, chanting and North African dance.
Learners who take part in the various groups at the centre, from confidence building, ICT sessions to language learning all appreciated the opportunity.
Although most of the CLD led groups are full to capacity, there are still few places in the Monday afternoon Confidence building Group, and Thursday IT groups.
As a part of the celebrations of the learning that took place in the past few months, CLD supported learners prepared a small exhibition of crafts that is on display in the local library until end of June.
Crafts, including cards, gift boxes and pottery sculptures, were produced at the Penny Lane craft group that meets at the Community Centre Tuesdays from 10am.
