SNP MSPs Alex Salmond and Christian Allard have welcomed the launch of the Scotland’s Towns Partnership: Town Centre Toolkit website.
The website enables engagement from local people with regards to developments within their own town.
It is designed to give everyone the opportunity to be involved in improving their local area and will give guidance on how to best use the various assets already in place.
The Scottish Government, together with the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, promotes the Town Centre First Principle which commits to transparent and meaningful decision making regarding the development of town centres in Scotland.
The Town Centre Toolkit can be found on the Scotland’s Towns Partnership website.
Mr Salmond said:“I am delighted to see the Scottish Government promoting the input of local people on development ideas for their local towns. Involving local residents in these processes instils a sense of local pride within communities.”
Mr Allard MSP added: “The website is great and easy to use. Enticing locals to make local decisions regarding developments is a great way forward and better enables people to really showcase the best of their towns and villages. Bringing people together to solve issues like improvements to local town centres creates solidarity within communities and also has the potential to be hugely beneficial for business, tourism, and can have recreational benefits to local communities.”
