An Inverallochy woman has started a campaign to get Allochy Road in Inverallochy reduced to 20 mph “before someone gets killed.”

Patricia McKenzie handed over a petition of 65 signatures to Councillor Charles Buchan to reduce the speed from 30mph after a dog was knocked down.

Ms McKenzie said: “The speed they go up and down that road is ridiculous.

“It’s only a matter of time before someone gets killed or knocked down.”

The safety of the young, the elderly as well as other pets are some of the primary concerns of Ms McKezie’s in her attempt to get the speed reduced.

Charles Buchan, Councillor for Fraserburgh & District, said: “I’m very pleased to accept this petition from Pat.

“Speeding on Allochy Road has been a serious problem for a while, and Pat and her team are to be congratulated on their initiative and hard work in gathering the signatures written on this petition.”

He added: “By highlighting the danger to young children and pets, by cars driving at excessive speeds, the inhabitants of both villages will gain.”

Aberdeenshire Council have been contacted.
