The Peterhead and Buchan Fairtrade Group held its third annual event at the Ritchie Hall in Strichen on Saturday, March 5.
The theme for Fairtrade Fortnight this year was The Big Breakfast, focusing on producers of the most popular breakfast items such as tea, coffee, cocoa, orange juice and bananas.
Very enthusiastic P7 pupils from Strichen School held a display highlighting Fairtrade producer countries and their crops using maps and fact sheets and kept the visitors entertained with a “country search” around the hall.
The event also hosted a craft fair which was very well attended by an interesting selection of stalls ranging from decorated lamps and photographic prints to wooden garden ornaments and handmade cards with much more in between.
Despite the bad weather which kept away many visitors, 49 “Breakfasts” were served, raising money for the Fairtrade Foundation’s ongoing development work.
