A national charity is appealing for Rosehearty volunteers to walk the pet dog of an elderly resident in the village.

The Cinnamon Trust is seeking helpers to take 8-year-old Springer Spaniel Archie out for walk on behalf of his owner Linda.

A Cinnamon Trust spokesperson said: "We urgently need dog walking volunteers in Rosehearty who are able to help a local resident and Archie their adorable 8-year-old Springer Spaniel.

"If you would like to help we would be delighted to hear from you."

The Cinnamon Trust is the national charity for the elderly and terminally ill and their pets.

They seek to keep owner and pet together for as long as possible with the help of a national network of volunteers who assist when day to day care poses a problem.

The Trust's spokesperson said: "A large number of elderly or ill pet owners become very worried about their ability to care for their pets, feeling that their only option is to rehome them, this is where our national network of dedicated volunteers step in to offer support enabling them to stay together.

"We’ll walk the dog for a housebound owner, we’ll foster pets when owners need hospital care, we’ll fetch the cat food, even clean out the bird cage or litter trays."

Volunteers can help in the ways that are most appropriate to them with teams able to take it in turn to visit the household and take Archie for a walk.

Potential volunteers can gain access to the charity's volunteer page on their website or by emailing them at
