The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice in Grampian.
The warning has been put in place from between 6pm tonight and 11am tomorrow morning.
The warning reads: “Snow showers will affect some higher routes during Friday evening, overnight and into Saturday morning.
“Initially only the very highest routes will be affected, but the snow level will lower during the night.
“Ice will also readily form on untreated surfaces.
“Please be aware of these wintry hazards and the potential for some difficult driving conditions.”
The Met Office Chief Forcaster added: “Showers will affect the north and east of the country throughout, these turning increasing wintry.
“The main snow level will be initially around 500 metres, with around 10 cm of snow expected, lowering to around 100 metres by Friday morning with locally 1 or 2 cm of snow possible at this height.
“The wintry showers will also see ice readily form on untreated surfaces.”
