The Banff and Buchan Vintage Tractor and Engine Club held their Annual Ploughing match at Loanburn, Boyndlie on Saturday, October 31 by kind permission of Mr A Johnston and supported by the Fraserburgh Car Rally.
It started off wet and windy but soon cleared up to be a lovely day and spectators were able to watch the 28 vintage and classic tractors at work.
The Double Furrow ploughs were split into two Sections.
Gordon Hector was first in Set A with Douglas Scott second and Bert Robertson third.
First in Set B was Alex Laird with Kenny Davidson and George Davidson second and third.
The Bill Gavin Cup was won by Gordon Hector for Best Double Furrow Ploughman.
Cairnochies Cup for Best Past Winners of the Double furrow was won by Murray Littlejohn.
The Eric Malarkey Cup for Best Trailing Ploughman was won by Doug Stewart.
Andy Cheetham was awarded the Drinnie cup for the Single furrow section with Bob Paterson second and Derek Duguid Third.
Bob Paterson received the Cowie shield for Best Opening and Doug Stewart swept the board by winning the Keith Family Cup for the Best finish and a new Cup presented by Mr Daniel for Best Start and Finish.
Mr Stewart went on to be named the Champion overall.
Mr Alan Johnston selected an International with a trailing plough as the best outfit of the day which was owned by Doug Stewart.
The club would like to thank local companies and club members for donating prizes and raffles, the ladies that provided baking and pots of soup and everybody that came along to help make it a successful day.
A total of £500 was raised from the refreshments and raffle and the money will be donated to Marie Curie as requested by the Johnston family.
