The latest report from Police Scotland was delivered at a recent meeting of Fraserburgh Community Council, the local group’s final meeting of 2014.
In the period from October 21 to November 18, the meeting heard that 383 offences were committed in the area.
This equated to 101 crime files, with 55 enquiries ongoing. Amongst the offences were 16 assaults and 14 acts of vandalism.
Following the Police report, a range of issues were discussed, including whether shoppers carrying alcohol on the street was an offence, following the introduction of charges on carrier bags. Clarification was given that while consuming alcohol in public is an offence, carrying alcohol in public is not.
The problem of cyclists getting injured in the dark nights was also raised.
