Pupils at Mintlaw Academy received a letter from a very special man recently.
The teenagers were delighted when they received correspondence from none other than broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough.
The S3 pupils decided to write him a letter as they enjoy watching his documentaries as part of their Biology course.
The letter asked him four questions about his interest in the natural world and his career.
They were completely shocked and over the moon to receive a letter back.
When asked what they thought about Sir David Attenborough, they said he was an “inspirational and a dedicated role model”.
The pupils asked him a series of questions, to which they received a hand-written reply from the man himself.
On receiving the letter, the pupils were amazed that he took the time to write back.
“They felt incredibly excited and privileged,” said class teacher Kelly Urquhart.
Mrs Urquhart said she will now be framing the letter as a treasured possession of the science faculty.
Sir David will celebrate his 90th birthday later this year.
He has been synonymous with natural history programmes since the early 1960s and is recognised as one of the world’s leading broadcasters on the subject.
