Buchan politicians have paid tribute to a Banff and District SNP councillor who lost his battle with cancer on Saturday.
Cllr Ian Gray was elected to Aberdeenshire Council in 2002, retaining his seat in 2007 and 2012 but sadly lost his battle with the disease last weekend.
Stewart Stevenson MSP said: “Ian was a stalwart of the local Party and as well as serving his constituents diligently also did a tremendous amount of work for the SNP.
“My condolences go to his family, who can take comfort from the high regard in which Ian was held in his home community.”
MP Eilidh Whiteford said: “This is very sad news indeed. Portsoy and the surrounding communities have lost a great public servant.
“Ian was held in very high esteem by his colleagues on the council and his fellow Party members and his loss will be keenly felt.”
