Two members of staff from Tyrie School received a surprise presentation during an annual community night that saw various local organisations combine their efforts to host of fun filled evening.
Mrs Sheena Aitkenhead a teacher at Tyrie School and Mrs Patsy Davidson a classroom assistant were presented with retirement gifts to mark their twenty four years combined service during the event on June 30.
A spokesperson for the community event told the Herald: “It was the perfect evening weather for the annual Community night which was held in the grounds of Tyrie Primary School.
“All the local organisations of Girl Guides, Brownies, Mother & Toddlers, Playgroup, Community Association, Tyrie School, Boyndlie Hall, Women’s Institute and Red Cross grouped together for a very enjoyable evening.
“The idea was for each organisation to provide a service of some kind from team games, BBQ, stalls, lucky dip, tea and homebakes, first aid wounds and many more to help raise funds for their individual organisation and have fun at the same time.
“Mrs Carol Winkler on behalf of The Parent Council had a surprise presentation for two members of staff from Tyrie School who retired at the end of the school term.
“Mrs Sheena Aitkenhead who has been a teacher at Tyrie School for 13 and a half years and Mrs Patsy Davidson who has been classroom assistant for 11 years.
“Both members were overwhelmed at the beautiful gifts, flowers and cards received on the evening and agreed they had thoroughly enjoyed their time at Tyrie School and acknowledged the continual support of the community with the school.”
