Public feel that Prime Minister got it wrong

Since Dominic Cummings' press conference on Monday a string of polls have indicated that the public believe the Prime Minister was wrong to stand by Mr Cummings.

A poll conducted by JL Partners for the Daily Mail found that a majority of Conservative voters felt the Prime Minister should have dismissed Mr Cummings.

Sixty-three percent of respondents to the Daily Mail poll felt that Mr Johnson should have dismissed his right hand man, including 53% of Conservative supporters.

Eighty percent of respondents also said that they believed that Mr Cummings had broken the rules.

Mr Johnson's approval rating, meanwhile, plummeted to -1% - a drop of 20 points.

A YouGov survey for The Times showed the Conservative lead over Labour had been cut by nine points during the Cummings saga - the biggest drop since 2010 - as support for the Government fell four points to 44% with Labour rising five points to 38%.
