Darts round-up

THE Fraserburgh and District Mens Darts Association are holding an open event on Friday and Saturday, 28/29 May.

On the Friday evening there will be a Blind Pairs competition, where the prizes will depend upon the number of entries. This will work on a money in, money out basis.

The main event is on the Saturday, when there will be a Singles competition, where the winner will receive 500, the runner up 200 and depending on the number of entries there will be prizes for the semi finals as well.

The committee are urging all local players to turn out and support the league.

Registration for FRiday is 12noon.

Names for the singles will be taken right up until 12noon on Saturday.

The venue for this event is the Royal BRitish legion and the entry fee for the Singles is 6.00.

Aberdeen A take title

THE curtain has come down on another Super League Season with Aberdeen 'A' taking the title on sets difference from Aberdeen 'B'.

Fraserburgh finished in third spot, while Kinnaird had a disappointing season as they finished bottom of the table.

Alan Smith claimed the Bert Fowlie Cup as the local Player of the Year, winning seven of his nine matches with an accumulative average of 30.97.

The other honours of the season were:

Singles Champion - Derek Dennis; Doubles - Derek Dennis and Vernon Farquhar; Top Set average - Alan Smith (28.36); Fastest Leg - Ronnie Ewing (12);

Tons Percentage Table - Derek Dennis; Fastest Leg (Sneidder Weise) - Derek Dennis.

On finals day, George Milne hit a super 160 out with Richard Duthie and Jamie Hagen both going out on finishes of 136.

Up and coming young star Gary Hagen hit a 108 finish and also notched up two 180 maximums.

Prize cash draw winners on the day were: 1. 30 - V Farquhar; 2. 20 A Smith; 3. 10 C Duncan.

All Super League players should note that the Annual General Meeting will take place in the Crown Lounge on Sunday, June 27, at 7.30pm.

Coco wins singles

IN THE Mens Singles Colin 'Coco' Robertson won again, beating Graham 'The Shark' Whyte in the final, with only one maximum on the night from Ally Bruce and a highest finish of 104 for 'The Shark'.

The Bullseye competition was won by Ally Bruce, with Sandy Forbes as runner up.

The Ladies Singles was won by Sandra Maitland, narrowly beating Dorothey Falconer into second place after both were pushed all the way in the qualifying rounds.
