CRUDEN Bay entertained Highland League side Fraserburgh at Watson Park on Saturday.
Fraserburgh were immediately on the attack from the kick-off. Within two minutes Hay rose unchallenged to head home a Hale corner. Fraserburgh continued to show their superiority with Conway just heading wide. The same player increased Fraserburgh’s lead when he converted Hale’s cross.
At the other end Keeper Leask foiled the Bay’s Sangster following a through ball from Wilby. Hale waste his cross from the left when put it behind and then headed a Conway cross wide.
Further Fraserburgh pressure saw Cooper put an effort wide and Glennie save another Hale cross at the second attempt. Morrison then just failed to find Sangster with a flighted through ball.
On 25 minutes Hale slotted another Conway cross home for Fraserburgh’s third. Two minutes later the score was 4-0 when Morrice fired the ball into the Bay’s net following a poor clearance from Glennie.
The Bay Keeper then had to move quickly to collect a Morrice free kick. The same player then had another free kick cleared by the Bay defender at the expense of a corner, which came to nothing.
A Thompson effort was wide following a Bay corner. At the other end the Bay were lucky to survive following another poor clearance from Glennie.
The Bay started the second half in a much more positive manner with some neat inter passing, with Fraserburgh being lucky not to concede following a mix-up between Keeper Leask and his defence, the ball being cleared off the line.
In a Fraserburgh attack Main saw his attempted cross go behind for a goal kick. Another Conway effort went wide and then put his cross behind.
In between the Bay continued to play some neat football but their attempts came to nothing.
Glennie was called into action when he had to save Conway’s header from close range. Morrice then picked up another Glennie clearance but put his shot wide.
The Bay’s next passing was rewarded after 70 minutes when Davidson’s looping header, from Johnny Watson’s cross found the top corner of the Fraserburgh net.
Davidson then returned the favour a few minutes later with a through ball to Johnny Watson but the latter’s shot was well over.
The Bay continued to hold their own against their Highland League opponents. However, Glennie was called upon to make a fine two-handed save from a powerful shot from Morrice.
