Fraserburgh will kick off the 2015/16 Highland League season with a difficult away trip as they make the short trip to Princess Royal Park to take on Deveronvale.

The match will be played on Saturday July 25 with a 3:00pm kick off.

Meanwhile, defending champions Brora Rangers will not start their campaign until the following week of fixtures due to their involvement in the Petrofac Training Cup.

Brora will open at home to Rothes on Saturday 1 August while Fraserburgh will have their first home game that day against Lossiemouth.

Broch will then see out the month of August against; Rothes(A),Buckie Thistle(H), Keith(A) & Brora Rangers(H).

The first round of the North of Scotland Cup will be played on Saturday 18 July while the first round of the Aberdeenshire cup will be played on Wednesday 29 July.

Following some difficult ties in September Mark Cowie’s side will welcome former boss Kris Hunter’s Formartine United to Bellslea on Saturday 19 before the first round of the Scottish Cup the following weekend.

Speaking to The Fraserburgh Herald, the Broch boss said he would have preferred a home game to open the season.

He said: “Our record isnt to great up in Banff and we know it’s going to be a tough game, but that being said every game in the league is tough now.

“A home fixture would have been good but you just have to take what you’re given.”

Speaking about his sides targets Cowie said he want’s his team to be competing with the best sides in the league.

“Ideally we want a good start to the season to keep us on level pegging with the likes of Cove, Formartine and Brora so maximum points from the first five games are needed.

“Regardless of who signs for who or what happens before the first game Brora are the team to be beat and everyone will be looking to do just that.

“They’ve won two titles in a row now and my target is to be within touching distance of them going into the game on August 29.”
