Great fightback by New Pitsligo

Two of the top teams in the NESFA league - Faithlie United and new Pitsligo - were drawn together in the first round of the Scottish Cup.

It was the home side Faithlie which played with a strong wind behind them and who took the lead early in the game with a goal from Fraser Anderson.

A Matthew Garden shot was tipped onto the bar but Martin Buchan was on hand to give the home side a two-goal lead.

Simpson - back in goal for the away side - had a few great saves in the first half. Into the second half and Pitsligo were on the front foot and Michael Stephen pulled a goal back from a cutback from Scott Milne.

Neil Christie equalised for the away side and then he scored the winner from a ball from Daruis Duncan.

Cheers entertained Montrose Athletic in another first round tie and it was the home side that go through to the second round after an 11-goal thriller scoring two goals in the last five minutes, the winner in the 90th minute.

Goals by John Bruce with a brace, goalkeeper Stuart Stephen with a wind assisted kick from his box all the way in over the Montrose keeper. Jordan Jamieson, Ryan Thomson and last minute winner from Daniel Simpson.

The last game of the day saw St Combs facing Mormond Thistle who once more were struggling to field a team in the Soccerworld Cup and the home side hit 13 goals without reply.

Neil Taylor netted five, braces from John Smith and Steven Bruce and one a piece from James Cardno, Nicky Tait, Stephen Bruce and Joe Dollman.
