Bellslea were facing New Pitsligo in the Ship Inn League Cup final, which was played at Bellslea Park.
For the first ten minutes play went from end to end without either team creating an opening.
Taylor had the first shot for Pitsligo which went a foot over the bar. S. Stephen made a timely tackle to prevent Fraser getting in on goal.
On 20 minutes a Stewart shot went inches past the post then Fraser had the same shot with the same outcome.
Bellslea earned a free kick out on the left and Gall curled in a dangerous ball which Garden connected with but it went straight into the hands of Simpson.
Rollo went down the right and he fired a ball across the six-yard box but it was just too hard for Farquhar who was coming in at the back post.
The best chance of the first half fell to Pitsligo’s Stewart after he was played in on the left with just McRobb to beat his shot was saved by the feet of the keeper.
On 47 minutes a Gall shot came close to opening the scoring. Calder also came close with a 12-yard drive which was deflected past the post by Reid.
A ball played in behind the Bellslea defence saw Stewart fly past Stephen but a poor effort was gathered by McRobb.
Stewart made a long run on the left and laid it off to Fraser but S. Stephen made a great tackle to prevent Fraser getting his shot away.
On 87 minutes Pitsligo were reduced to ten men after Reekie was sent off for a second caution.
Just on full time Reid made a timely tackle to prevent Calder having a clear shot on goal. Bellslea were getting on top with an extra man but couldn’t find a goal so it went into extra time.
New Pitsligo took the lead in the first half of extra time after a ball was played through on the right to Stewart who lobbed the out rushing McRobb and ending high into the net. Into the second period of extra time and with Bellslea pushing forward, their keeper McRobb was on the half way line, Pitsligo won the ball 70 yards out and Lawson hit a long ball towards the empty net but it ended wide of the target.
Buchan sent in a low cross which Simpson gathered well at the feet of Garden. With time running out Taylor picked the ball up on the left and drove down the line and with everyone telling him to take the ball into the corner, the midfielder hit a terrific shot which went over McRobb and dipped into the far corner of the net to seal the cup for Pitsligo.
Bellslea came back into the game in the second half and looked favourites when Reekie was sent off but with Calder being red carded it evened it up again and after the first goal it only looked like being one winner and it was proved righ with a wonderful second goal by Taylor to seal the win.
In the North East Scotland Welfare football SoccerWorld Cup first round Faithlie United faced St Combs and the match ended with the home side progressing to the quarter-finals with a 7-1 win.
The winning goals were scored by Martin Buchan and Nathan Sandison both netting two each and one apiece from Fraser Anderson, Johnny Smith and Daniel Reid and replying for St Combs was Mark McIntosh.
In the quarter-final Mormond Thistle faced Neighbours New Deer and in a high scoring match the visitors hit the goal trail winning by 12-2.
The winning goals came from Jamie Duncan who netted five times, James Broadie, Scott Milne and Andrew Fowlie all hit two each and the others came from George Heatherwick Jnr and for the home side was Scott Sherwood and Mark Farman.
In the Deejays Nightclub League Elizabethan link Up played hosts to Clinton Thistle and the home keeper Sinclair saved a penalty, they then went a goal down before Craig Whylie drew the home side level.
John MacKinnon put the home side ahead before Clinton scored twice to take the lead. Craig Whylie drew the teams level again before Clinton scored to lead 4-3 at half time.
Clinton pushed ahead in the second half scoring another three to run out winners by 7- 3.
