Fraserburgh Golf Club’s juniors recently received their end-of-year awards at a prize giving. Junior Covener Derek Bond writes:

As Junior Convenor at Fraserburgh, it gave me great pleasure to present the beautiful trophies we had on display to our very talented youngsters, who put their heart and soul into their golf during the season, and have now reaped the rewards.

Junior golf at Fraserburgh is now available for 52 weeks of the year, and most of the mainstream of players take part in the winter league, which allows them to participate in competitive golf all year round.

Competitive golf is so important to our youngsters, and sincere thanks must go to all of our sponsors, both from local businesses, and individual club members, who continue to support our junior section, for which we are eternally grateful.

As you can see from our prize list, there are a wide variation of winners, who have all developed so much over the past 12 months. It really is incredible to see how much they have come on.

Our Junior Captain, Craig Barbour, and Junior Vice-captain, Lewis Fraser, have taken all of the juniors in our mainstream under their wing, and have been a massive inspiration to all of the younger players who take part in the competitions. A difficult job, very well done.

There is a wide range of different formats available for the juniors to take part in, stroke play, stableford, match play, summer league, winter league, team match play and local team friendlies.

Many congratulations to all of our winners, and hopefully this will inspire many more youngsters to take up golf, and take part in this tremendous competitive junior section.

Junior handicap champion was G. Sutherland Jnr, with Lewis Fraser awarded as the junior scratch champion.

Lewis was also named as Junior Player of the Year.
