Peterhead Boxing Club held another successful show at Balmoor Stadium recently.
It was also a successful evening inside the ring with the home club’s boxers putting in some strong showings against a Western District Select.
The performance of the night came from Artur Selivanovs (Peterhead) who won every round against Daban Kamil (North Glasgow).
Selivanovs was made to work hard against a very tough opponent however his supreme fitness showed as he finished the contest strongly.
It was great preparation for Selivanovs ahead of the forthcoming Scottish Championships.
Another good performance for the home club came from Kyle Black who took a unanimous decision against Calvin Hughes (North Glasgow) in their Youth Light Flyweight bout. Black ground out a career best performance ahead of next weekends intermediate championships.
The only defeat for the home boxers came when Joe Sutherland (Inverness City) got a unanimous decision against Rytis Bliznikas. The Inverness boxer used his greater experience to get the nod on the judges scorecards.
Kyle Hutton from Peterhead gained more experience when he was matched against Alistair McLeod (Inverness City) in a skills bout and Patryk Wisniewski (Peterhead) put in a lovely performance in an exhibition bout against Adam Myron (Insch).
Commenting afterwards club delegate, Phil Anderson said: “It was a very successful evening for the club with a sell-out crowd and some very entertaining bouts for the spectators. The fitness of the Peterhead boxers is testament to the hard work that goes on in the gymnasium.
“This is down to the first-class coaching by our head coach, James Price, and also to the boxers themselves. The club would like to thank our main sponsors, Argyll Scaffolding and GGD Engineering, for their continued support.”
