Fraserburgh RFC will face Garioch 2nd XV at Kellands Park in Inverurie this Saturday.

Fraserburgh will be looking to change their fortunes from the last time they played, suffering a heavy loss to Highland 2nd XV in Inverness.

Garioch 2nd’s along with Ellon 2nd XV and Fraserburgh sit joint bottom of Caledonian Division 4 North on five points and the Broch will be looking to climb off the foot of the table.

However, with Garioch 1st XV not having a game this weekend Fraserburgh may find a more difficult side than the one that last played and lost 54-24 against Ellon 2’s back on January 10th.

Loose head prop Duncan Lawrie has said is optimistic ahead of Saturday’s match:

“We have not played Garioch before so it’s a bit of the unknown .

They have lost 7-57 to Mackie this season and more recently 24-54 to Ellon 2nds xv who we beat 31-12 in our only win this season, so a win is entirely possible as long as our injured players are back on the field.

“Myself and our Hooker Dean both have broken fingers as well as a couple other players who are still on the mend.

“We are currently trying to recruit more players as that was out biggest problem against highlands 2nd xv we were missing around 6 players including myself due to work & injury.”

After Saturday’s match Fraserburgh will have 4 fixtures remaining this season.

A weeks break after the Garioch game will be followed by a home fixture against second placed Mackie 2’s then after that a crucial match against Ellon 2’s away.

The Broch will then round off the season in April with two fixtures away to North Police Scotland then the return fixture against Garioch 2’s at James Ramsay Park.
