The museum at Maud Railway station holds its last Open Weekend for 2014 on Saturday/Sunday, October 11 and 12, from 11am to 4pm both days.
Volunteers have been working to renovate a World War 2 air raid shelter on the platform and are looking for any artefacts and pictures relating to the station and surrounding area during that period. It will be open for visitors to inspect during the weekend. Next year sees the 150th anniversary of the opening of the line from Maud to Fraserburgh and therefore the origin of Maud as a railway junction.
Coincidentally it will also be the 50th anniversary of the last passenger trains. The friends of Maud are looking to find ways of commemorating these events . Although there are no further public openings this year the museum will welcome visits by groups by arrangement-contact email@example.com
