Families from Buchan and the surrounding areas are gearing up for the annual “Wild About Aden” event in Aden Country Park.
The hugely successful family friendly event will take place over two days, on Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th August from 10am to 3pm.
Now in its sixth year, Wild About Aden hopes to build upon the great success of last five years where each year over 6,000 people visit the park over the two days.
This year’s event will feature a range of new and different family friendly activities including: outdoor nature sessions; animal handling workshops; a selection of rare breed animals; face painting; environmental art; mini beast hunt; storytelling; treasure hunt; wildlife crime caravan; RSPB; bush craft; campfire cooking; scout activities; and the ever popular bike track, body zorbing and climbing wall.
We are also delighted to announce that this year children and families alike will have a unique opportunity to participate in an array of exciting sports related activities being run by the Aberdeen Football Club and Ellon Rugby Club.
So if you fancy bouncing around inside an inflatable ball, handling bugs and insects, learning about rare breed animals, searching for treasure, or perhaps trying you hand at some new sports, why not join us for a family fun day out in Aden Country Park.
Neil Shirran, Aden Development Worker, said: “The sixth Wild About Aden event should prove to be the best yet. We hope the event will not only be a really fun, enjoyable two day event for all the family but we also hope it will encourage friends, families, the young and old, to come together and enjoy what one of Aberdeenshire’s top country parks has to offer”.
“Aden provides a variety of benefits and opportunities for friendships, education, health, exercise, and simply a space for play and fun. Sometimes I think we forget what fantastic parks and green spaces we have in Aberdeenshire and I think the Wild About Aden event will really help to showcase what Aden Country Park has to offer.”
Wild About Aden is a partnership project between Aberdeenshire Council Central Buchan Community Learning & Development and Buchan Development Partnership, the Ranger, Museum and Library Services, Active Aberdeenshire, Rare Breeds Survival Trust, Friends of Aden, amongst others, and is designed to provide two days of family fun within the beautiful setting of Aden Country Park.
It is hoped that the event will promote family learning opportunities through a range of hands on experiential learning, whilst raising awareness of the local environment and North East farming heritage.
