North-east music lovers are gearing up for the Granite City Country Music Festival which gets under way tomorrow (Friday) until Sunday at Aberdeen’s Menzies Hotel in Dyce.
Raising money for Cash for Kids Northsound and Moray Firth Radio, the country music bonanza - returning for a second year - will feature The Davitt Country Band, Dave Sherrif , Dolly Parton & Kenny Rodgers no 1 UK Tribute act and Shannon & The Brothers.
Commenting, event co-ordinator Liam Christie, said: “Thanks to the success of the previous festival we’ve been able to attract some fantastic names who are well known in the country music scene.
“On Friday our headline act is The Davitt Country Band. On Saturday Shaun Loughrey & The Countrysiders are the main draw and on Sunday The Duke Boys take Centre Stage.
“All money raised from the festival is going directly to Cash for Kids Northsound and Moray Firth – a cause we are thrilled to be able to make a contribution to and if we can have fun listening to some excellent music while raising money then everyone’s a winner in our book.”
Lyndsay Rose, charity manager at MFR Cash for Kids, commented: “This is a fantastic event that is a real draw for Country and Western music lovers, who can get to see acts they wouldn’t normally - which in turn benefits Cash for Kids.
“Every penny raised is gratefully received and will go a long way in supporting disabled and disadvantaged local children and young people.”
Festival-goers will also be able to take part in a variety of fun games such as Irish Bingo with cash prizes and the grand raffle draw on Saturday evening where a weekend at the Embo Country Music Festival is up for grabs.
One lucky winner will even be going home with a Robin Van Persie signed Manchester Utd shirt.
