It may only be late March, but the search is about to begin in Ellon for panto cast members.

Ellon Parish Church Drama Group are holding an open evening next week to recruit members for this year’s production.

For those not so keen on treading the boards, help is also required backstage in the form of lighting, props, wardrobe and make-up.

Now in its 20th year, the Ellon pantomime has gone from strength to strength with the number of performances increasing from four to five due to public demand.

Sean Harrison, this year’s panto director, said: “There are no auditions, the only requirements are enthusiasm, commitment and an interest in trying something new.

“We are a very friendly and social group and all over-18s are welcome to join.”

No decision has been made on the choice of this year’s production - which will be performed in late November/early December.

Officials are waiting on the response to the open event to see the size of the cast.

Ellon Parish Church Drama Group is open to anyone staying in or outwith the parish, whether or not a member of any church.

The open evening will be on Wednesday (March 26) at 7.30pm in the Kirk Centre. There will be an introductory talk and the opportunity to chat to current members.
